ENTRY 13: Here Comes Goodbye~

Image
Here we are again. When there is a beginning, there must be an end. This week is the last week of class for this semester and the last entry for this blog. I feel sad and at the same time I am glad that this semester is coming to an end as it has been a roller coaster ride for everyone with assignments etc. I think this course has taught me a lot of things that I found useful in my life such as I learned on how to create a courseware, podcast and Powtoon. Other than that, I discovered that how little does Aisyah knows about technology and she does not know how to do some stuff that I found easy to do. However, it has taught me that there are some people who are tech savvy like me and there’s “dinosaurs” like Aisyah and Kak Nur who do not know most of the techie stuff. But I have learned on how to be patient and tolerate with people like them. Other than that, this course has given me some ideas on how to incorporate technology into lessons. I found it useful as I can us...

ENTRY 12: I AM SO DONE WITH SMARTBUILDER

Image
Hi everyone~ So, we are almost 80% done with the courseware. But I am still struggling with my Powtoon video because of my poor internet connection at my rented house. So, this problem has resulted some setbacks for me as I have to wait patiently for the internet and I came to the college early in the morning just to get a stable internet connection so that I can continue creating the Powtoon video. The original plan was for us to combine all of our parts together. But I am done yet with my Powtoon video even though I have completed the rest of it such as the notes and instructions. Luckily, my groupmates were kind enough to give me a few extra days for me to do it as at that time I was quite busy editing our short film. P/S: you can check it out in the link/video below. And finally, the Powtoon video is done!!!!!! And today we were planning to combine our parts together under one project. However, the God of Technology apparently have abandoned us (T_T) W...

ENTRY 11: ME VS SMARTBUILDER

Image
Hello meow~~~~~ So, for this week, my main focus will be on creating the lesson as I was in charge of doing it and I have to create a lesson about simple present tense (be-verb). At first, I thought that it can easily be created by using the Smartbuilder software. After I spent a few days in front of the computer trying to figure out how it should look like, it came upon to me that SmartBuilder is suitable for creating exercise and activities and not lesson. I feel that way because I found it hard to explain to the students about simple present tense to the students if I used SmartBuilder to create the lesson. I brought up this issue with my groupmates and they agreed with me. Therefore, we have decided to create our own Powtoon video. We chose video as a medium for explanation due to several reasons. Firstly, the lesson can be in one video which will reduce the number of “pages” that we have to create in SmartBuilder. Secondly, the lesson will look more appealing and inter...

ENTRY 10: CREATING OUR OWN COURSEWARE

Image
Hello everyone! So basically, this week we are going to focus in creating our own courseware using Smartbuilder. And the topic that we have chosen is simple present tense (be-verb) or Under the Sea for standard 3 students. My groupmates consisted of Aisyah, Balqis, Nur and I. After we have decided on the topic, the four of us discussed on how the courseware should looked like by creating a storyboard. The storyboard will be our “holy Quran” for the next few weeks as a reference for our courseware. After that, we divided the work on who is doing what. The lesson is divided into 4 parts which is the lesson, class activity, class exercise and the design. So, I was in charged to create the lesson while Balqis was in charge of compiling and designing the whole look of our courseware to ensure coherence between the parts and Aisyah and Nur were in charge of class exercise and class activities respectively. These are a few snapshots of our storyboard. ...

ENTRY 9: NOT AS SMART AS SMARTBUILDER

Image
Hello netizens! So today we continued our lesson with SmartBuilder by learning on how to insert audio and creating hotspot in the courseware. To me it is quite difficult to do at the beginning as I couldn’t really see what Madam was doing because I sat at the back row. But luckily Bal know what to do so most of the time I rely on her to do that. I guess it is time to change my spectacles prescriptions. Like I said last week, creating the command for the SmartBuilder is the same as coding. You have to be precise with the command/code. If you made one mistake, the command could not be executed and in my case, I always forgot to tick the “False” option for the hotspot. But that is not the end of my problem with SmartBuilder. As for inserting the audio, it was okay. I was able to do it for my first project. However, when it comes to the second project that I created, it couldn’t be played. And I discovered that it worked in the first project and not the second project is because...

ENTRY 8: CANVA AND SMARTBUILDER

Image
Hello again. I know it’s been awhile since I’ve updated my blog. But HERE I AM, BACK AND AGAIN~ Anyways, let’s start with this week’s lesson. For the first class, we learned on how to create poster using Canva. Canva is basically an online website that allows you to create or design posters by providing templates that has been pre-design by designers. We can either use the pre-existing template or create it on our own. In my opinion, Canva is a good site to be used by beginners such as Aisyah to introduce them to the world of designing since it has a simple function. However, I think for those who are familiar with designing will found Canva is limiting their creativity since it does not have the same function as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. But if you just want a simple design and you’re too lazy to start from scratch, Canva is your answer. Even though I am a frequent Adobe user, I sometimes found myself logging in into Canva to create simple info graphic for my “Isu-I...
