ENTRY 8: CANVA AND SMARTBUILDER
Hello again. I know it’s been
awhile since I’ve updated my blog. But HERE I AM, BACK AND AGAIN~
Anyways, let’s start with
this week’s lesson. For the first class, we learned on how to create poster
using Canva.
Canva is basically an online website that allows you to create or
design posters by providing templates that has been pre-design by designers. We
can either use the pre-existing template or create it on our own. In my
opinion, Canva is a good site to be used by beginners such as Aisyah to
introduce them to the world of designing since it has a simple function.
However, I think for those who are familiar with designing will found Canva is
limiting their creativity since it does not have the same function as Adobe
Illustrator or Photoshop. But if you just want a simple design and you’re too
lazy to start from scratch, Canva is your answer. Even though I am a frequent
Adobe user, I sometimes found myself logging in into Canva to create simple info
graphic for my “Isu-Isu Kekeluargaan” presentation as can be seen below.
Next we are going to look
at SmartBuilder. This is where I found it to be interesting since this is the
first time I am using the software. I like it because it has the same function
of designing basic software where you have to use coding to give command to the
computer to do things. E.g. You have to
make sure the code or command that you gave to the computer is in the right
sequence in order for you to execute the command. If you missed one code, the
command cannot be executed properly or it will not work at all. It is fun for
me to watch other people do it since most of them thought it is easy to create software.
Most of them did not believe me when I told them I can get paid around RM60,
000 to design software or to hack. This is because not everyone has the
expertise to do it but it is good money maker. I really think everyone should
equip themselves with these things. As for the software itself, it is quite
easy to use and it has a nice UI. However, we have to remember on how to do it
(the coding). But once you understand the concept behind it, you’re good to go!
These are some of snapshots of the courseware that I created during class. Just
a simple courseware where we learned on how to link from one page to another,
add pictures, background, roll-over button etc (simple stuff).
Aaaannnnndddddd we just got
another assignment by Madam Azida. Basically we have to create a courseware for
primary school students in which we have to teach using CALL. But this time
around we don’t really have to teach the students, we only have to create the
lesson using SmartBuilder. So for the next two or three weeks will focus on
developing the courseware.
I think that’s it for now.
See ya!
